Cheminees Poujoulat
Swiss double Velux 5 Oceans winner Bernard Stamm will be competiting onboard new Juan K Open 60 Cheminees Poujoulat. Stamm has competed in many high profile races from the Vendee Globe, Velux 5 Oceans, Transat Jacques Vabre, Route du Rhum and Solitaire du Figaro. Before becoming a winning offfshore sailor Stamm was a successful mechanic, lumberjack and then helmsman.
In 2000 Stamm made it to the start line of the Vendee Globe but his hopes of finishing the race were dashed when he had to retire due to technical failure. However he could not be held back and in 2003 Stamm became world ocean racing champion (FICO Imoca), 2006 saw him defended his title in this race now known as the Velux 5 Oceans. When he crossed the finish line on the 30th April 2007 he had won every leg, the rest of the fleet did not stand a chance with the second boat a two weeks behind him. 2007 also saw him finish in second place in the Rolex Fastnet and third in the Transat Jacques Vabre.
